The NHL regular season is coming to an end, and the New York Islanders are in a competitive battle for the postseason. It’s the most exciting time of year for hockey fans. With that in mind, check out this creative, illustrated book that shares the rich history of the New York Islanders. 

Featured Author February – C.J. Zachary

C.J. Zachary is a bestselling children’s book author who works exclusively with her illustrator husband, Zac. The husband and wife team is from Arkansas and work in elementary education. Zac is an art teacher while CJ is a Dyslexia Interventionist. She also has taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and has served as a Literacy Facilitator. Their first book, The Awkward Avocado, teaches the importance of acceptance and self-love. It has been a smash hit since its release in 2022. CJ and Zac just recently released the sequel, Awkward Avocado and the Interrupting Raptor.

The successful author/illustrator team of C.J. and Zac Zachary is back with another hit children’s book, The Awkward Avocado and the Interrupting Raptor. The Zachary author duo absolutely delivered with the introductory book of the series, The Awkward Avocado. And when I learned about the sequel, I was ecstatic. The authors have a beautiful ability to convey life’s most meaningful lessons in a charming, rhyming format that children can grasp. This new story certainly does that – and reminds us of the importance of sibling love.

The Runaway Letters is a creative story that children will love. Geri Lyon’s book is fun, creative, and filled with stunning illustrations. If you are looking for a fun mystery for early readers, this is definitely a book that should be on your family’s list.

Children’s Books to Celebrate Spooky Season

With the end of summer drawing nigh, I can’t help but be excited for Fall and all it entails—the cooler temps, apple and pumpkin picking at a local farm, apple cider donuts, and Halloween! Halloween was one of my favorite holidays growing up, and I especially loved reading books to immerse myself into the spirit of the season. Now I’m able to share my love of this time of year with my son, and there’s no better way than snuggling up on the couch in the evening with him and one of these fun, spooky books!
